A SCHOLARSHIP FUND WITH A MISSION

Helping Young Lower Cape May Athletes Achieve Their Dreams

The Luke Lare Memorial Scholarship Foundation was founded in 2020 when we lost our beloved teammate, friend, nephew, brother, and son, Luke, at the age of 21. Luke was a true patriot and held strong traditional values and convictions, always honoring his word with a firm handshake and charismatic smile. He played sports from first grade through high school and never missed one practice or game in his entire career, while always placing the team’s goals ahead of his own. Prior to enrolling in the University of Alabama, Luke was a 4-year varsity starter for Lower Cape May Regional boy's lacrosse and exemplified hard work and selfless dedication, ultimately receiving the coveted ‘Coaches Award’ during his Junior and Senior seasons. He was also a member of the Shamrocks and Southshore traveling boy’s lacrosse teams and played indoor lacrosse in the off-season. It is important to us to highlight the role sports played in Luke’s life and how dedicated he was to his role as an athlete, teammate, and friend.

For this reason, we hope to honor Luke by annually awarding this scholarship to a boy’s or girl’s lacrosse player who exhibits signs of Luke’s character and hard work. The recipient of this scholarship should demonstrate unmatched authenticity and dedication, both on and off the field. Our mission is to inspire Lower Cape May lacrosse players to strive and achieve greatness by enabling them to attend college or trade school with our financial and unwavering support. Our goal is to build a Post-Graduation Mentorship Program, where Executive Board members and former scholarship awardees will offer guidance based on their education, experience, and career development to subsequent awardees with the same educational or professional interests. It is our hope that through The Luke Lare Memorial Scholarship Foundation, we can build a network and support system that gives back to the community and honors Luke in a way we know he would be proud of.
