"Authentic! Is how we summarize Luke Lare. A young man with a bright future but his life was taken way too soon. He loved life and took advantage of every moment, he saw every day as an opportunity to do the things that he loved! Hunting fishing swimming and spending time with family. We were blessed to meet a young man and see him go through his transition from toddler to young adult. We shared many summers with him as he and our son whose name is also Luke became buds instantly. We enjoyed many afternoons at the shore with our Lukes spending time together with our youngest son in tow.

One of Luke’s favorite past times at Erma Summer camp was being a prankster, he loved to prank people and always had fun doing so. Using water balloons on people as they passed by, mostly the teens! They tried to get the adults but weren’t very successful so his dad and I got water guns, crouched behind trees and when they were passing by we got him good. We were more successful than them that night, but its things like that he enjoyed, he made the summer more fun.

My wife and observe that one of Luke’s least favorite thing to do is dishes at camp, but if his name was on the list he always showed up and got it done. I could never figure it out but there were times when Luke found a way to get his dad to do the dishes, instead. Sometime Luke would breakout with songs while doing the dishes, then rest of the teen doing dishes join in and fill the kitchen probably some of the worse signing we have ever heard.

Luke went off to Alabama College after high school. I knew that he was going to be away from family experiencing something fresh and new. As people have done for our children, I wanted to be encouraging and a blessing to Luke! I reached out to him via text. Let him know he was always loved. One memory to keep his eyes on Jesus Christ. And now he is walking alongside Christ in heaven. With heavy hearts this is not goodbye.. Luke will forever live on in our hearts and will be so greatly missed by many rest in peace Luke ... till we meet in heaven again."
